An online charity website, Unitedoak's brief was to develop an easily recogniseable logo that communciated the domain. Our creative influence led to the development of the name of the business which circumvented the fact that big things grow from humble beginnings.
This was akin to the "Acorn" and "Oak" analogy. Given that oak was used in the name, it was not necessary to duplicate the oak reference in the icon. We then went for a squirrel and placed it in the recogniseable "bevelled" square with a vision that it would become an icon for the website.
We also wanted to create a colour scheme that was different to the Twitter and Facebook space so that the logo icon could be seen with those specific icons and be treated differently.
