1. History of Logos

The use of symbols and signs became prevalent since early times. Traders to identify and distinguish their goods and cattle from each other first used symbols. The sole purpose was only identification and not promotion. These traders deployed cipher for distinguishing the goods. Cipher contained a single letter or any kind of symbol imprinted on a good or cattle of the owner. People used cipher not only for commercial purposes but also for religious and creative purposes. Archeologists have found good examples in the thirteenth century such as watermarks, goldsmith’s marks, and mason’s marks. Every profession had different cipher.

With the advent of technological advancement and rise in competition, the concept of logo underwent tremendous change. Even its physical appearance underwent transformation. Now many organizations use a logo as a corporate image. They deploy this graphical symbol to promote their brand or products and services. It also used for distinguishing one’s products and services from others. A logo is designed in a way so that it appears unique to draw the attention of the potential customers towards a product.
